Replacement Hands for Analog G's

So I've got my first G last week and of course I'm thinking about modifying it... can't leave well enough alone. I'm completely striking out finding what sizes the hands are. I'm also not seeing that this is a common mod here at least, so I figured I'd ask the experts. What size is the hole on these hands, and are there any other examples of folks who have changed hands for something different?

I've seen folks mention that the hands were thin. I'm used to working with typical watch hands which aren't very beefy - I wonder how they compare to those? I'll see what I can find out and report back.

Interesting - I'll give that a shot before I take anything apart to measure. Hopefully their parts / service folks are cooperative.

I sent an email to the west coast parts house this morning so I guess I’ll see what they come back with. Even if it is just some tech specs with hand hole sizes that would work for me.

Well, that was fast, I got a reply from the supply house this afternoon and they had part number info for the hands for my model - I'm sure they will have PN's for whatever model you are looking for but you'll have to ask. They didn't have the hand size info, but the hands were cheap enough ($8/ea) that I ordered a set. I'll get a ballpark size when those come in, and will get an exact size when I develop the nerve to take the guts out of the watch.

FWIW, the movement, dial, and dial support (with hour indices) were all restricted parts that you couldn't just order online, so I asked about their cost and how to order. Interesting stuff.

Aaaand Casio Parts canceled my order and refunded my money… hands not available online. Back to square one on this journey. When I pick up the lumed hour markers, I’ll check the hand size myself.

That’s the plan, I’ll just measure when I have her all apart. I was going to relume the stock hands, but perfectly happy finding something aftermarket that I can fiddle with beforehand.

Sid the dial swap today and measured the hands:
Day pointer - 0.78mm
Hour hand - 1.20mm
Minute hand - 0.72mm

other than the day pointer, those are “common” quartz watch hand sizes of 1.20mm/0.70mm. Guessing that the minute hand pinion has a slight taper and that’s what I’m showing. Good news.

Pretty happy with the dial swap - an Ali Express special and a luminous hour marker ring.
