Rolex No Date Movements

I rarely open a new thread on any forum but thought I would attempt to tap into the knowledge base of our more learned members regarding the Rolex 3130, 3131, and 3132 calibre movements. I have found that I have come to prefer no date watches which are much easier for me to wear in rotation, just to pick up on the fly, wind, and go without having to set the date.

The Rolex website lists both the Air King and Milgauss powered by the 3131; the Explorer 1, the 39mm Oyster Perpetual, and the Cellini Time (no date) by the 3132, and the No Date Submariner 114060 by the 3130. That leads to my question: What are the essential differences between the three movements and what is the upgrade potential for each, keeping in mind Basel 2018 is just slightly one month away? Speculation would seem appropriate here regarding upgrades and for which model(s).

Given the information above, this might support speculation regarding a possible upgrade in movement for the No Date Submariner from the 3130 perhaps to a new and improved 3230 movement and the Date Submariners perhaps upgraded from the 3135 to the 3235 currently used in the Datejust 41? OK I know this is highly speculative but just sayin' ...

I also have an 214270 Explorer 1 that I bought the first year it came out but am unsure whether it has the 3132 listed for the current 214270 or a 3130 calibre movement? After greater than seven years, my Explorer 1 runs +3 seconds per day since the day I bought it. My 114060 no date Submariner is less than a year old and runs +2 seconds per day. I am hard pressed to find any realistic difference in service of various Rolex watches I have owned over almost four decades. I will say I am a complete novice regarding the various Rolex movements, which is the reason I initiated this thread.

That is my understanding as well, whereas the 114270 has the 3130 inside. All of the Submariner dates are shown as powered by the 3135 that I am told is the same as the 3130 but with date function. The speculation is that maybe all of the Submariner date models will be upgraded to the 3235 movement. If that were to happen, I wonder if the 3130 might also be upgraded to a "3230" that would be exactly like the 3235 but without the date function to power the 114060 no date Submariner. I realize this is all wild speculation on my part and will see what unfolds in slightly over a month's time. As I said earlier though, my predictions in the past regarding Basel and Rolex have been 100% - all wrong.

Good question, and it is good to know, considering that I have Watches with each of those movement in it.
