I’m looking to upgrade the 7s26 movement in my Seiko SKX013 with a 4r36. I’ve done movement swaps on the full sized SKX cases before. I know a SARB059 crown and stem is needed when you swap in a 4r36 movement however my questions is:

Will a SARB059 crown and stem work on the mid-size SKX013 case or will I need a different crown and stem for the movement upgrade?

I’ve seen mention of upgraded 4R movements in the smaller case so I know it can be done, just need a little info help regarding the details.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I've done a lot more research. Here's what I do know.

Yes, it's possible and is doable. Artifice HoroWorks sells a 62MAS homage made from a SKX013 case and a choice of upgraded movement to a 4r or even 6r. I've sent them an emails asking about what stem and crown they use but haven't heard back from them. Seems unlikely they'll respond since why give away a detail that allows them to charge $600-$700 for their 62Mas homage

There is no direct crown and stem assembly swap (like the SARB059 crown and stem for a full sized SKX movement upgrade since a SARB059 crown is too big for the case)

The original 013 crown can be fitted onto a 4r stem. The stem will be too long and will require trimming down to size on an individual stem basis.

I've sourced a 4r movement and will attempt to trim down the stem to the proper length myself.... or I could chicken out and ask my watchmaker to do it for me. I haven't decided yet. I've got a few weeks to ponder as I wait for more mod parts to come in.

If anyone has additional info I'd greatly appreciate your input.

Hi.
Im having the same problem with you and after found some clue on this ebay pic
i.ebayimg.com/images/g/bokAAOSwz71ZSbvf/s-l1600.jpg

Also found : "Original Seiko SKX007 crown and stem are not detachable." i assume the crown having same bulit design.

Want to know more about your statement : "The original 013 crown can be fitted onto a 4r stem"
Did it mean you can separate the original 013 crown and stem by unscrew without damaging the housing?

i'd greatly appreciate your reply or update on this.
Have a nice weekend!

P.S. sorry for no pic or link due to never posting before

Ok, here's the thing. I don't know for sure.

I've read through various forums that you can remove the crown on the 013 with a little heat. I'm not sure if it's designed to do this or if it's a workaround. I've tried to follow up with people who have posted about it but as those threads several years old, I haven't gotten a reply or they give answers without helpful details like "try eBay" or "have a watchmaker do it".

So based on bits and pieces, I'm assuming removing the crown from the stem is possible. However, I don't know for sure. Once I get all my mod parts together I'll open up the watch and try to find out for good.

I don't have any answers, but I am curious as well.

I'll like to chip in some information and will add these to my blog post accordingly. https://seikoparts.wordpress.com/2018/09/07/seiko-skx013-supercharge-mod/

The SKX013 aka 7s26-0030 (mid size SKX) has a crown-stem in similar format as the SKX007 (Note : cannot be detached).
For the NH36 super charge mod, you will need an aftermarket crown (if available).

Like what Alex Yap informed, you can use a SKX025 aka 7s26-0050 aftermarket crown BUT do note that the size is on the minus side (small !).

Give me some time, i am trying to figure out a solution and make an offering for this mod.
Just needs some guinea pig !

Hope it helps to clear some doubts.

I just finished modding my SKX013 with a NH36 movement. So this is what I did.
The stock NH36 movement I got from eBay had a threaded stem, so all I needed was a skx013 compatible crown that could be threaded in.
I am new to the forum, so I don’t know if I can post eBay links (Apparently I can´t because I am new to the forum haha). Pm me is you want the ebay link for the crown, which worked wonders with the mod, and pretty cheap I must say. Or just type in ebay "NEW SEIKO CROWN STEM FOR 7S26 0030 & 0040 SERIES MENS DIVERS WATCH NR#124"

The rest was the same as to modding a 007.

Cheers!
