I think the pepsi is a great addition to a larger collection, but for a first mechanical it's hard to beat the 007. Definitely more versatile, though I don't think of either as being especially suitable for formal events.

 

Simple answer: get both !

The 007 will definitely be more versatile. However, IMO, it's kinda boring. 009 has way more character.

 

I would go with the 007 to maximize versatility, but either the 007 or 009 are great watches.

You can’t wrong with either, chose the one that speaks to you. I picked the 009 in 2010 and ended up grabbing a 007 a few years later. Both have been fantastic for the price.

Pepsi, more interesting and you will only regret not getting one if you get the 007 first.

 

As many have already said, you can't go wrong with either one. My choice is the 009 though, since it is much more interesting. If you have _any_ plans to own other watches too, get the 009. If you're a one watch man then maybe the 007 is more versatile.

 

Get the 009 because sure as eggs is eggs the 007 will follow it pretty soon afterwards.

 

Recently picked up the 009 and for me the colors give it great character, but also make it more conspicuous and therefore less suited to 'dressing-up' than the black of the 007. Both are relatively casual pieces in my opinion, but if you plan on being a one-watch guy the 007 probably has a slight edge in versatility.

That said, I'd get the 009 if that's really the one you like better. As others have stated, you may well end up with both before too long. Full disclosure: I got the 009 to keep my 013 company when something more formal is required.

 

I think the 009 has more character but the 007 is more versatile. I prefer the 009 (or most any Pepsi colored seiko diver) as I feel it is the sportiest and most fun of the options. The vast majority of sport watches will either be black dialed or black bezeled so why not add some fun to the mix?

But can't go wrong with either one!

Id get the 007 because its more versitile, get the colours down the track.
Buy on bracelet if you can.

 

It started life as a 007, but I thought it needed just a little pick me up. All in, it's quite modified (including a 6R15 with the coveted SARB059 crown). The subtle touch of black dial and bezel insert with a touch of red looks good in my opinion.

My opinion on which one to get is like the other smart guys: get both.

I own both of them - definitely recommend the 007 over the 009 if you just want one - more versatile and matches with everything.

 

I agree with the 007 call. I think as a single watch collection the pepsi isn't the right call. Add color later maybe in the form of the 009 or a turtle.

 

The 007 is more versatile but the pepsi is more fun. Either way, you can’t go wrong with a SKX.

 

I picked the 009 in december and I am happy with my choice.
However since it arrived I keep feeling tempted every time I see a picture of a 007. Recently I am contemplating the 013 as well. Love the hands on that one.
