Sell me on the Alpha Planet Ocean...

I've loved the look of Omega's Planet Ocean with orange bezel for quite some time, and now see that Alpha has a homage watch of this model. I don't really have a problem with homages, and I know I'd never pay thousands for an Omega when I have other hobbies of competing budgetary priority. I would love to have an Omega PO, but until that unlikely occasion happens, this Alpha would seem like a nice placeholder.

But given that I know little to nothing about Chinese watches in general and Alpha in particular, I'm hoping I can get some general education as to why or why not a purchase of the below watch would be a wise move. My expectations are, I think, realistic in that I know there is little comparison to the Omega in terms of quality of movement and finish, but just in general terms, is the Alpha a watch of fundamental reliability, perhaps even a good bang for the buck?

Newish Alpha PO owner here, managed to buy one off another WUS user a couple months ago. It's a pretty solid watch, certainly a lot of bang for the buck considering what I paid for it.

The fit and finish is OK, as long as you don't expect the world and understand what you are getting you'll be alright. It certainly feels a lot more expensive than it is, but the lume is quite weak, and the crown has a tendency to not lock into place as it seems quite temperamental.

On mine, the orange colour on the bezel (see below) is uneven by the indicies from 0-15, but I think everything else lines up nicely. In the two or so months (maybe 3 now?) I've had the watch, I've worn it as my daily beater and find it runs on average by my eye test a bit fast. I also wish the date was on a black wheel, or just not there at all. Also, it's interesting to see the seconds hand slow down a bit from 12-3 and then ramp up again, i don't know if mine is unique in that regard, or if that's a well known thing.

I've also received complements on the watch, so take that for what it's worth. I am also impressed by the bracelet, as it feels pretty great considering the price. Certainly feels solid, and not something you'd expect at this price point. Overall I'm glad I own it, but if I have to part with it or it breaks down, I won't be all together too sad. Would I buy it again? Probably not, but I'm not sad for having owned one.

I suppose an alternative, if you like the Orange Planet Ocean type watch would be the Orient Planet Orange, if you can find one.
