I generally pick a watch to match the situation, and cost is not particularly high on the list of reasons why. I recently spent a week in the jungles of Honduras with my Orient Mako because it had been field tested and was a cheap replacement if something did go wrong. This was a conscious decision to leave the Longines Master Collection at home. I am, however, a teacher and have never hesitated to wear the Longines to work. Occasionally, a student will comment on the moon phase.

What do you teach?

I pick my watch based on what I feel like. I tend to pick fairly evenly between the Speedy and PO - and if its gym or running then I go straight for the no frills G-Shock. Pretty happy with that lot for the time being but I am keeping a very keen eye out on Tudor Subs at the moment.

I don't wear my best watches all the time but I often wear them. I never worry about getting mugged but maybe that's because my best watches fly under the radar and I never hang around in dark alleys at night. But If I often have to walk alone at night and own a two tone Rolex sub I'll probably be more cautious to wear it.

I like wearing all my watches in constant rotation. Granted all I have are affordables and the most expensive one (for now) is a Helson Sharkdiver. I lile showimg them off, but mostly to myself.

Like others mentioned here, people (non WIS) do not pay attention to other's wrist. Even friends who know Im into watches wont even bother asking. It is definitely a personal gratification.
