The whole reason for being of the U1 is Sinn wanted to provide a BIG chunky Diver made of submarine steel.
But they caved to the "smaller is better crowd" So to me it takes away from the inherent character of the watch. But for those with smaller wrists who want a "toolish" watch I guess it makes them happy.
But once you start changing dimensions of an iconic watch you are changing the aspects of the watch which made it iconic in the first place.
I do have a UX and U2 and enjoy them but I find myself preferring smaller lighter watches on my 7.25" wrist
Remember most watches were smaller but then back in the early 2000s they started getting bigger
Panerai are one of the few which have always been big
My favorite Sinn’s in the catalog! I picked the U1 for myself, but I think it’s a good thing there’s a smaller option for someone without the preference or wrist for the OG. Better than leaving them on the sidelines.
I prefer U1 on my small wrist. I have tried the U50 but felt this design meant to be big. Dial spacing especially minute markers looks better, not crowded, not busy. Who cares what other people think, I like U1 and it is on my wrist.
Some watches were designed to be a certain size. The U1 is one of them. A smaller U1 is just not right for me. Plus, considering the size, the U1 is one of the most comfortable watches available.
