Speedmaster manual winding - is it annoying day to day?

I've been trying to decide what Omega watch to get for a little while now and when I finally thought I'd settled on the Speedmaster Professional(over a SMP or PO) I remembered that the Speedmaster is a manual wind. I appreciate this for the heritage value of the movement but I know i'll forget to wind it eventually and it will stop. Do any of you guys find this an annoying part of owning the watch or does it become like second nature after you've had it a while?

I remember years ago thinking, why is the Speedmaster so popular? Plastic crystal and you have to wind it every day?

Boy was I wrong..... At this point, I have an unhealthy obsession with my 3570.5.. I like it that much.

You will not forget to wind it. I almost never forget to wind mind and I forget everything.

Plus there is a benefit.... For a lot of automatic watches such as the SMP300, you have to undo the crown to wind them.
Especially if you have a watch that has a 40 something power reserve, and you will not wear for 2 days, (like over the weekend). This can put undo wear and tear on the crown.

With the Speedmaster, if I am not going to wear it over the weekend, I just give a few winds on Saturday or Sunday and place back in its box. The winding mechanism is very robust.

Granted, I will mention that the Speedmaster is a little fiddly to wind. But you get used to it.

While I cannot speak specifically to the Speedmaster Professional, I prefer manual winding movements. They are typically more aesthetically attractive than automatics, thinner, and much less hassle for me to worry about. It is much easier for me to wind watches once a day than to fret about how much power reserve an automatic has left and hassle with resetting dates when then run down.

I definitely second the sentiment that it's a bit fiddly at first, but once the mechanism "breaks in" it winds smoother. And as you build muscle memory, it becomes a real treat to wind it day-to-day. The best part about a manual is you don't have to worry about whether you're wearing it enough. And no need for an expensive winder either. Just make sure to fully wind it by hand every day or two, and it will never stop.

Bottom line, now that I have an AT and recently acquired the Speedy Pro, I'll probably never buy another auto. I love the winding the Speedy that much.

Easy peazy. It should runs a couple days on a full wind but the easy answer is wind it either when you go to bed or when you get up no need to do both unless you want to.

Winding it is not a problem. Takes no time at all. I usually give it a few winds a couple of times during the day if I'm wearing it. Lack of a date window makes it incredibly easy to set if it has stopped running from lack of winding.

It's one of the best features about the watch! If your a crazy WIS like most people that frequent this site ( no offence!) you wear it on a rotation anyway and it has no date function to worry about, no screw in crown to worry about and no need to have an expensive watch winder to keep it going.

Same here. I am already at the stage where i am doing it for the sake of having fun. If there is an AAA meeting for those addicted with winding the speedy, i might be sitting in the front row

One of the Joys of owning a manual wind is that five minutes spent every morning winding them all up

When I wind a manual wind watch, I split the winding amount in half and do it twice a day. The reason is I don't want to put any stress on the crown stem at the end point where the spring is fully wound. It probably doesn't hurt to reach the end point everyday but I just don't want to accidentally over exert it. Besides, it is fun to wind and feel/watch the mechanism make clicking sound.
