Both.

I like how the vintage Submariner oozes with simplicity and toolness and the two lines of clean text compliments that perfectly.

Similarly, I like how the modern Submariner postures as technical, dominant, and ornamental and the four lines of text enhances that vibe.

 

I prefer the older Subbys but have owned a four liner for 28 years so I must like that as well 🤔

 

I think the two-line one looks better.

2 liner allows more focus / less distraction on the logo and name above. Even more so on the 1 liner (which is a beauty!)

I have a four liner... I find the two liners a little Spartan for my own tastes... but let's be honest, there isn't a wrong choice.

Another vote for the two liner. I prefer the clean look on the (neo) vintage Subs. The four lines of text on the modern references fits their contemporary appearance.

Beautiful 14060m, nice flat 4 on the bezel.

 

2 lines, all day. Especially with that matte dial!!

Slightly off-topic, I recently came across a thread from 2009, where the OP said that he had an opportunity to buy a Sub for 3,950 GBP and he passed because it just didn't move him. The Sub cost twice as much as his 46mm Breitling SuperOcean and felt like "half the watch." Just amazing how things have changed in a little over a decade.

 

And likely will change again in a decade...you never know where tastes go.

 

If I could choose it would be the 2 liner but I have a late 14060M 4 liner. Fortunately I bought it when they were readily available, I even got a discount from an AD.

 

Both are nice but I have become accustomed to the 4-liner. So, yeah, 4 liner for me.

Print all that stuff on the back if needed. Give the dial some space.

 

Definitely two-liner. Any dial with more than three lines of stacked text looks ridiculous.
