Tactical Frog Solar Chrono or Timex Q Chrono?

I'm thinking about getting a quartz Chrono and have decided on the Tactical Frog Solar Chrono. I compared it to the Timex Q Chrono and for me the Tactical Frog wins.

Here's why,
1. Solar vs battery
2. Sapphire Chrystal vs mineral
3. $20 cheaper
4. Meteorite texture and color watch face

I'm curious what y'all think.

Thanks guys for your opinions, and Thank you @ronsetoe for the additional comparison watch!

So looking further into both watches I've discovered that the Q Timex has an Epson (Seiko) VS12a quartz movement with a 5 year battery, while the frog has an Seiko (Epson) VS75 Solar movement. I would guess that the quality of these two movements is probably even, one being solar and one being standard battery.

I was also curious where the Q Timex is made, and on the back it's made in China, just like the Frog.

So specs wise I would still say that they are almost even, but for me the Frog slightly wins. A couple of people have said that the Frog looks cheap, I don't agree, again for me, the frog wins on aesthetics as well.

And as for "homage" I would say they are both homage watches! Let's face it, the Originals are more than 10x the cost or more.

Keep it coming!

The Timex Q Chronograph is a reissue of their 1970's quartz chronograph including its cushion style case, hidden lugs and the case's sharp angles. Being a reissue, it's an homage to that particular motorsport quartz chronograph from the past collection. Whereas the Tactical Frog Solar Chrono design characteristics look like a low-end watch resembling one of Seiko's recent re-issues.

I appreciate your opinion. But the way I see it your dislike of the "other... thing" should create an equal dislike of the Timex. And in my opinion if you're going to hate on one brand because it comes from a particular country, you should hate (maybe a little more) on the other brand for shipping off it's manufacturing to that same country. And if it's a copy cat thing, then again the Timex is also a copy cat!

I respect Timex for bringing watches to the working class, I'm pretty sure my first watch as a kid in the late 60's early 70's was a Timex. I will be adding one to my collection at some point for that very reason. But it probably won't be this design. Probably a Marlin with Peanuts. That's the design that I think of when I think Timex.
