The Casio W59 is the heir to the F91

The W59 should get more love than it does.

Just picked up one of these for a whole ten British pounds sterling.

Why is it the heir to the throne?

The W59 retains the F91's dimensions, colour scheme, 7 year battery life and woeful back light.

But it improves on the strap, button size and water resistance.

It tid bit thicker. Difference between 30m WR and 50m WR is rather slim after all.
Casio phased out all F91 derivative models which looked a like and introduced replacements with new designs.
F91 was kept as heritage and i glad they did it.
I have at least several with same 50m WR and same functionality and i even made thread about them.
Casio started to do so in late 90s or early 2000s so it's like 20 years old trend.
I mean we have things as recent as F108 and such which take exact palace of these and give more modern interpretation with bigger size of both case and digits. F91 has special standing but derivatives have not.

The W59 is too similar to the F91W and even inherits the same poor display light making it more of an homage watch.

The F105W is a truer successor.

Yeah I got the W59 for a friend a while back. Solid watch with better water resistance than F91. I however prefer the F84 (below). Way better looking watch than either one. Really brings the 80s design more aesthetically. Also it is my most accurate watch (+3 seconds since daylight savings time change). Japanese market watch, so not as many people are aware of it.
