The gold wings on Navitimers

I was in a Breitling store yesterday to consult with the sales guy about a trade offer I received. He strongly suggested that I don't make the trade for multiple reasons, CHIEF among them being the gold wings. According to him, customers come in asking for the gold wings and offering to pay more for gold wings.

If I'm not mistaken, since last year, Navitimers will no longer have the gold wings logo on the dial. (as per my Navitimer 01 below.)

Do you believe that models with the gold wings will be more desirable by collectors? I assume that the gold wings were used for multiple years?

Or will it not matter because Breitling will eventually return to the gold wings? If Breitling notices that its customers strongly prefer the gold wings (which a couple threads on WUS seem to indicate), wouldn't they just switch back?

Thanks for reading!

If it makes a difference value wise im sure it will be minimal. Maybe someone would be willing to pay a couple hundred more for the wings if they strongly preferred it. But I doubt anyone will be paying significantly more, as in 1k or more premium for the wings. The wings were out for a long time, it's not like they are crazy scarce or anything on the used market.

Price of gold has skyrocketed this year, that definately makes me believe that the gold wings (not the printed ones) will be much more valuable. Or any gold on it (bracelet, bezel, indexes, markers, etc.)

Nobody is buying or valuing these watches based upon small gold components. If you look at the raw materials of your watch you already hugely over paid based on the market values of those components. The mark up is many times over already, so gold would have to probably go up 100x for you to even break even on that tiny bit of gold in there. And if you remove the gold you are left with a worthless watch so then you still lose.

Definitely get the wings! ... last of the bwings FTW!

I got one for my 40th, snagged a B01 43mm on bracelet with the bwings. It is the business, my favorite piece nowadays. All I need is The Navi, a Sub and a Gshock square. Done ... (maybe).

I was all set on the b logo originally when I got mine ... but saw one in an ad (that sold teh next day) and that little set of solid gold bwings brings so much character, totally classes up the watch especially on a black panda dial (and im not even a gold guy!). It can dress up or down, and absolutely hooked me. IMHO It is the absolute sweet spot; with the B01 in house movement, 70 hour power reserve, gold applied wings, color matched / quickset date wheel. BOOM! (can you tell I like it). Only faults I see are the WR rating is pitiful and id love to see the movement (I know there are version with case-back window). The rattrapante would be nice ... but too $$$ for me.

Definitely becoming sought after already in my experience, a few fellow collectors and an AD have made offers on mine as the new stock with wings has all but gone now (but mine goes to my son).

As other have said the Navi is an iconic aviators watch, so without those bwings (even though they weren't on breilting originally), it just another expensive chronograph to me.

You will never regret the wings IMHO, but you will miss them! DO IT!

One word of advise (which is probably personal preference/circumstance really), if you can find a good pre-owned one in mint condition and preferably still under warranty (2x free health check services in warranty period) , and with a bracelet ... I would go that way ... they often lose 1/4 to 1/2 of RRP out of the AD. But after that initial drop, they are solid price wise, and medium - long term id say it will appreciate (even if re released later). But Id say its a keeper!

Ill stop gushing now (but imagine these wrist shots without the wings! ... a bit meh for me).

Cheers
