We have a number of owners of this one on the forum already, starting with DSD, I think! :) I thought it would be nice to have a single thread for photos and comments on this magnificent ocean master Beast!!

Please post your photos, thoughts, reviews, comments, etc. on this awesome new Gulfmaster here! :-!

Thanks Brvheart!! Now, this doesn't mean that we all don't want to see an "Eye Candy" thread if you should happen to pick one up! :) So keep that in mind, okay?! :-!

Time4Playnow do not forget that nifty "little" thing in your avatar pic, surely that one must also be in the top pick up's of the year!:rodekaart:-d:-d:-d

This new Gulfmaster is indeed very nice!:-! But price tag a little hefty for me a.t.m!:rodekaart

Tim4Playnow can you take some side view shots to get a good look on it's profile while on wrist? Also would be nice to see that new off ramp at the end of the strap when buckled up?

Is that ramp effective at keeping the strap keeper from sliding off that was such a big problen on V1?

#8 ·
Don't worry Joakim, I have not forgotten the Frogman. And yes, it's up there too, but I'm saying this Gulfmaster may actually look a little better than the Frog! :rodekaart:-!

All in good time, for the other shots. They'll be here, eventually. ;-) Sadly, no, the ramp is not really that effective for keeping the strap keeper from sliding off, unless you wear it tight.

You know that made me tingle a little right?? Maybe I should trigger finger it sooner rather than later?!?!
You know, that's a REALLY good idea brvheart, maybe you should!! ;-):-!:-!:-!

Guys, does it hug the wrist as nicely as the mudmasters do with those wings?

Yes, actually it does!

NICE!!!! Is it larger than v1? Somewhat looks larger but could be deceiving on pictures.

They are about the same diameter from 10-4, but from 9-3 the v2 is about 2-3 mm larger. v2 is about .5mm thicker than v1.

I love that photo, DSD!!! (the watch has something to do with it, no doubt! :-d)

Beautiful shot, Nemo! :-!

But, I must stop looking closely at photos of yours, or I will talk myself into that one, too!! :rodekaarto|o|:-d:-d

I don't know Ben.....sounds to me like you are talking yourself very much INTO it, not out of it... :-d:-! One tip: resistance is futile. Give in to the force. :-d

You really are giving good advice here I think...Eye Candy, GulfMaster v2 - sounds like a nice combination to me...? Hmmmmmm....maybe Odie has one that he needs to get rid of? Maybe I will find a magic wand and wave it today and then eagerly await at the front door for a delivery? I wonder if the mail man would think it was weird if I was sitting next to the mailbox in the bushes in ambush to grab a package that he was not aware that he had on the truck for me - yes yes I need to find a magic wand ASAP - anyone have one I can borrow?
I always give good advice! :-d

No worries - I have a magic wand and just waved it. You might want to wait by the mailbox today! ;-) (but not sure the waiting in the bushes part is a good idea - you might give the mailman a heart attack before he could deliver anything to you!)

A few more photos...... ;-)

Casio really payed attention to detail on this one. Not sure if you can see in the pic, but the tide graph scale (part that lists L - H - L) is actually raised from the dial a bit around the High tide area! :-! Looks very good on the dial this way - kind of a 3-D effect. And, at the 3:00 and 9:00 positions on the bezel, there are two tiny little squares with a polished blue IP finish. Looks very nice!

TPN great shots! You are right they did pay attention to detail on this one. I'm sure we will find something to bicker about - but it's as close to complete as I think we will see in an analog/digital. They really put this one in the classy category. It's almost to pretty to use!

Odie I know you use your watches and don't baby them at all - interested to hear your opinions after a few days of use and a follow up after a good run of a couple weeks grinding it down!

Well...

I went back to "Shadow"

There is just something about this watch...that being said, the v2 is a great watch...BIG (I have small wrists) but great w/ a ton of features. The light on it is BRIGHT and looks like a crescent when it reflects off the ceiling. I think the watch is a bit "busy" on the face and wasn't overly impressed with the lume in the middle of the night. The alarm sounds are insanely weak on the v2 compared to the Tissot Solar. I know "Shadow" isn't as feature packed as the v2 is but it has a lot better CDT, Stopwatch and louder alarm by a mile.

I've only had the watch for a couple days, but here are my initial impressions... :) Many more pics to come, prob this weekend.

Pros:
  • looks - the watch is drop-dead gorgeous, IMO! Stunning grey dial, and blue IP accents. Second only to my MR-G in the looks dept., I think. Fit/finish is top-notch.
  • comfort - fantastic. Design of lug area, plus wings, allows watch to hug wrist very well. Strap resin is very soft, just like Gulfmaster v1.
  • functions - the most functional G, to-date. I just love that it's an ABC, plus has tide/moon age, and sunrise/sunset. AND a time stamp function that works in pretty much every mode! The depth gauge is cool, but I won't use it.
  • upgraded features - to compass and baro, over previous Gs.
  • size - it's very large, but not too large for my 7.25" wrist. The size gives it great wrist presence.
  • weight - not bad at all. I would even say light. Don't know the actual weight, have not put it on the scale yet.
  • balance - very good. Does not seem to be top-heavy at all when on the wrist.
  • light - bright, makes reading watch in the dark completely legible - no problems at all. Uses typical dual-LED, one for digital window and one for main hands.
  • crown - screw-down. I prefer that over the indent-lock type smart crown.
  • digital window - the negative display is very easily readable. The 'negative' display here will not be a drawback at all, for me.

Cons:
  • metal strap keeper - too loose. Just like on Gulfie v1, no better. Should have used a resin keeper. I might try tightening the metal keeper a little, to keep it from sliding around so much.
  • unique strap attachment system - will probably prevent the use of any aftermarket straps. (esp. with the sensor north of the 12:00 position!) Doesn't matter so much to me, but might to others.
  • (for me) lack of city code ring. The watch implements world time thru the digital display. I prefer a city code ring around the dial, underneath the crystal like on Gulfie v1.
  • watch should come with a warning in the box: "Warning: wearing this watch while driving may be as dangerous as texting while driving! The watch may cause frequent staring, and a lack of attention to the road. Wear with caution!" :-d

Please do not ask me about alarm loudness - I do not use the alarms on any of my watches so this is a non-issue for me. The 60 min. CDT also a non-issue for me. ;-)

I have to say, of all the releases this year, this one is at the top of the list, for me!! Highly recommended! :-!:)

Thanks for your review, T4PN.

One con for me is that the minute and second hands are shorter than I'd like. The tips of these hands seem farther from the minute markers than with the v1 Gulfmaster.

Great write up TPN, I was actually looking for a resin keeper to slap on there as well - it's a bit of a pain in the arse.

You are dead on on the driving comment!!!
Pun intended??!! :-d I hope I'm not "dead" on!! :-d:-d

I was going to add - if anyone is on the fence on this one, PULL THAT TRIGGER like you're firing a machine gun!! :) LEAP off that fence as if it were on fire!! :-!:-d

#50 ·
Hey Brv, could you explain this? I checked my Gulfie v2 against my Stealth v1, and both the keeper and buckle are EXACTLY the same! :-s

#40 ·
Gosh darn it....you guys got me! Just placed my order!!!!

Hoping I like it as much as everyone here seems to.

As a side note, can't believe I will probably get this before the Frogman I ordered!!
Nice job!

OMG you have NOT gotten that frog yet?!?!? Yikes!!!

Did it meet your expectations?
