There have been many threads I have seen regarding being safe to avoid a watch mugging.
I have not seen many threads re this company.
Do any members use this service. If buying a pre owned watch without papers, would you go to this site first?
If buying pre owned from a well known website, would you request to see if they use this site?

The Watch Register database
It also offers a database search service to retailers, pawnbrokers, jewellers, auction houses and collectors, which allows them to check the status of a watch prior to transactions. THE WATCH REGISTER database currently lists over 70,000 lost and stolen watches, and is growing rapidly.

Statistically speaking, I wonder how many years watch thefts/losses need to be recorded for a search to return anything approaching meaningful for somebody to routinely justify paying a fee. If this pools data from one or two markets, say UK and US, it will be interesting to see if it becomes a useful database. It almost needs to funnel all watch thefts from law enforcement

It costs ÂŁ15 per watch to register a loss and 5% of the watch value if they help recover it.

It sounds about as useful as a version of Google Maps that only adds streets and cities to the map if somebody pays them to do it. Where is New York City? Nobody has registered that obscure city sir, so It doesn't exist. That will be ÂŁ15, cash or card?

I am fairly new to this hobby, but would think that something like this site would be to everyone's benefit. At least it is a start. , it will take time to grow. And perhaps the industry itself will create a database that is free for consumers and businesses to use..
From what I read on this site, just verifying that a Rolex is not fake is difficult enough, ( I would not even try to do this myself) let alone having to figure out if it's been stolen. If a consumer called Rolex with a serial number, would they provide the status of the piece with regard to it being stolen? .
Also is it safe to assume that a Rolex purchased on Ebay using their authentication, or on Chrono 24 or Crown and Caliber would have been checked to make sure it had not been stolen?
