So i've looked everywhere on this forum and cannot find a decent review of this watch ANYWHERE.
So that dissapointed me, because now i have to post a new thread, and it seems like all i do is post new threads.
Anyways, is there anyone out there that has this watch?

If you do, how is it? i'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money, as my budget is tight, but when i saw this watch, i fell in love with it. It reminds me of the watches WWII pilots used to wear.

Here it is, and i think timex got it right on this one, all the colors match, and it truly does get 5 stars on looks alone.

I have the Watch and love it, but hate the strap trying to find a nato strap here in Winnipeg is proving bothersome. it is a very nice piece and I beleive it is the reigniting of my watch addiction Lord knows what I will find next.

All I can tell you is that my wife bought me a Timex Field Chrono 10 years ago - this was before I got heavily into watches. This one:

I have taken that watch everywhere and the battery lasted a full 10 years. Replaced it last week. Watch is reliable and accurate. I have owned a bunch of quartz chronos and they all crapped out. The Timex is the only one that has survived. It takes a licking and . . . well you know the rest.

Go for it.

I just received mine. The watch is absolutely awesome for the price - I paid 79,95€ for it and that included delivery from Germany to Finland. And that was the fastest delivery ever! Straight out of the box the chrono-hand was slightly off the mark, but I started the chrono, stopped it and after resetting it was where it should be - in the 12 o'clock position. Some reviewers say that the dial is a bit 'busy'. That is true, but I've seen some worse examples, in my own collection one Zeppelin fits well in this category. The black case of Timex is quite stylish indeed, and the beige/desert coloured markings look very good too. The strap isn't obviously of highest quality, but at the moment does its job. Famous 'Indiglo' backlight works as promised. The 42mm size is just about perfect for my small wrist. I would have included a photo but my camera battery was sadly dead. These are just first quick impressions, but I think that for this price it's very hard to find anything similar - or better than this Timex chrono.

I have this. I think it's great! I put it on a tan NATO with PVD hardware from NATO Strap Co. I honestly can't say I have any complaints about it. The stock leather band is a little thin but soft and comfy. Chrono functions great. I guess setting the date is a little weird, you basically move the hour hand 1-hour at a time (it jumps when setting the date) to advance the date wheel. The chrono came misaligned but the instructions provided allowed me to correct that quickly. Not at all bad for $60 shipped.

Good looking watch - tool, but stylish imo

Strap ideas:

tan leather

desert Zulu/ NATO (these pics shamelessly borrowed)

and, this has wobbled the axis of my taste world, but I love purple NATOs with black watches

(thanks ViperGuy!)

@Mekcanix - that's what the internet is for! Check out Natostrapco, and eBay: search '(lug width) NATO' or xx nylon watch/ xx G10/ xx NATO tan, or whatever. Literally thousands out there

I had this watch for excatly one day. It looks good, it feels good and for the small price it is well enough build - but I just can't get over that the chronograph is basically a 30 min. stopwatch only. Come on Timex you can do better, make Chronos with 12 hour stopwatches and we talk again.

cheers

The longest event I regularly time is under ten minutes, so this is not an especially bothersome limitation to me, but I agree that Timex should be able to do better. A common arrangement in quartz chronograph movements is to turn the fractional seconds dial into an hours totalizer after the minutes totalizer has toured its subdial completely. I admit I was surprised when I discovered this was not the case with the Timex.

How's the SS strap and also the Indiglo? I'm looking for a utility watch that can take a beating while looking so damn good :)
The Indiglo works, but it is fairly faint compared to many other Timexes. It works fine for checking the time.

I needed a chronograph I could read at night, and while I can read this one, the hand alignment is vague enough that it's hard to read. Seeing as I'd be better off checking the chrono with a flashlight, I'm considering moving this one along and going with a smaller, lighter quartz chrono without regard to the nighttime legibility of the chronograph dials themselves.

I cannot speak to the bracelet, but for the benefit of others who find this thread in their future research, I'll remark that the leather supplied on the version I bought is a bit light and flimsy for a watch of this thickness and weight (the watch is not heavy, but the strap is quite light).

Here's the version I have:

Hi guys, I just joined the forum and wanted to say thank you for this. I was on the fence about this watch and your positive reviews have made it an easy decision to get this for an everyday piece. What size NATO is appropriate for the Field Chrono?

I was on the fence too about this watch. But than I read some reviews and saw some YouTube videos, and decided to get both versions. The chrono and the normal expedition. The flyback is beautiful as well!

I just purchased one of these with the intent to remove the PVD finish and expose the brass case underneath by Dremel with wire brush. Does anyone know how hard PVD coating is? Will I need a stainless steel brush or will a brass brush remove the coating?
