As is often said one buys the seller not the watch. If you have someone you've done business with for awhile and found them true to their word in transactions, plus are very accurate in their item descriptions (at the very least photos are thorough and what you saw is what you got), then please put that seller here. It would help those of us wandering the chaos of eBay greatly and not sure where to start.

I have no objection to opine on watches people want to buy and always give my honest opinion. But my best sellers I will keep to myself. :) Given I am on the West and frequently late for a hot watch (people on the East snatch it) why would I add to the competition by broadcasting sellers I like? Greedy. I know.

Usually if it's an obscure badly taken image from a seller saying it works and he doesn't sell many watches, like it's somebody selling grandpas old watch, i find it rather trusty worthy.

But jokes aside, the real red flags with a seller by my book is an abundance of frankens and semi-proffesional pictures usually taken on those pebbles/seashells. A persons expertise and discerning eyes are the best tools.

For the vintage stuff, makarow-89, maksim8433, asap31 (still a watchuseek user?), miromanbay (WUS user), cerg76-46 , probably a few more people can throw in the mix.

I'm at least thankful to this seller that they have a distinctive background for their listings. Makes it easier for me to just scroll past them all without wasting time checking any of them. :D

The best advice is: trust but verify.

High resolution pictures from every angle is a must.

The only part of the descriptive text that is of any value is specifics. "Recently serviced" is meaningless.

I don't believe there's a list of sellers who always come through. Mistakes can be made even with the best intentions. An OK watch can break an hour after you receive it.

We buyers are basically dealing with strangers. The biggest inducement for sellers to do the right thing is the strong eBay warranty. If a seller has a reasonable number of sales, you do your research and look carefully at the pictures you should be OK with any seller.

Haha. Truth to be told: I do not think I have favorites ebay sellers. I got watches fro some of them repeatedly thinking ‘I bought a nice watch from this guy so this one must be nice as well’ and instead of doing my due diligence I just bought. Big mistake. Even the best sellers on ebay sell occasionally junk. So always do your homework!
