😊😊😊 hello every one, i am new to the forum.

So i just picked up my tudor bb from the local ad, but the crown position of it is kinda odd, i tried to go to the winding position by unscrewing the crown, however the crown didn't pop out completely to the winding position, I seemed to stayed at somewhere between the fully screwed down position and the winding position, at such position, no matter how many unscrewing turns I did, It was just free spinning. .Unless I try to screw ( turning clockwise) the crown a little, then it will pop to the proper winding position, and when I tried to screw it down to close the seal, I heard some sort of grinding noises. .so i tried it a few more times, i would say 9/10 times the crown wont get into the winding position by only unscrewing it, so basically for this watch to go to the winding position, i gotta unscrew the crown first, then screw it a little in order for it to pop into the proper winding position. is that something i should be concerned about? i am hoping all you bb owners can shed a light on me. thanks.

u will have to unscrew the crown until it was off the threadings? but the crown remains in the that position when u tried to turn anti-clockwise just like u were unscrewing the crown? and when you turn the crown abit towards clockwise then the crown pops out to winding position?

did i get the story correct? if so, this is normal.

On my BB, when the crown is unscrewed and leaves the thread of the crown tube, a spring pushes it out to the winding position, the effect of the spring can be felt when pushing the crown in to engage the thread.

Its the same with most watches with screw in crown.

My Black Bay is the same.

You must be one of the fortunate ones, live1. I have handled a number of Tudor's, and they are all as described by the OP.

My Rolex Submariner is spot-on. My Tudor's crown is not quite but it doesn't bother me because I do not have to operate the crown often.

Since you guys bumped the old thread, I think it's normal as long as it isn't too tight.

I believe it's the snugness of the gaskets holding in the crown (you can see the double O-ring in the diagram a few posts above). My BB did the same when new, but after a few months, the crown now pops out smoothly.
