Just a quick thread for my fellow wee wristed brethren/Speedy Reduced fans about upgrading the clasp on the bracelet offerings from Uncle Seiko.

I was grateful back when US released several aftermarket bracelets for the Speedy Reduced. I quickly grabbed the Flat Link and Mexican Holzer.

But I always hated the old-school friction clasps that came on his Speedy Reduced bracelets. Asked him for a better clasp, and he signaled "maybe one day."

So I'd been keeping an eye on his release of dual-button milled clasps for his other Speedy bracelet offerings (and Seamaster and BB58). But because he didn't indicate on the website that they'd work for the Reduced bracelets, I kept hoping he'd release such a clasp for the Reduced bracelets.

Well, after waiting for some time, I checked back on the available dual-button milled clasps, and the measurements seemed like they'd work on my Reduced bracelets, even if the website didn't say they would. Shot Larry an email and he said he quickly measured the clasp connections and it seemed like it would work, but he couldn't confirm.

So decided to take a gamble (as I've always REALLY disliked the friction clasps). Specifically ordered the US1450/1035 option since I was aiming at least for my US Reduced Flat Link.

Got the new clasp in and gave it a shot on said Flat Link. After an initial scare of it not fitting with the included center/connecting link, I realized I could pop out the retaining bar from the friction clasp to swap the respective center/connecting links. Mission success!

EDIT:

See below for similar success on the US Reduced Mexican Holzer.

Doubt I'll try this on the OEM bracelet, though.

My 36mm SMPq is currently in for service, but here's to hoping the Speedy Reduced end links work on it when it returns 🤞 👍

Thanks!

I was feeling optimistic this morning: confirming that removing the connecting link from the friction clasp and installing it on the double button milled clasp works on the Reduced Mexican Holzer too 👍

(A cool thing about the Mexican Holzer is that you can wear it with the small links polished or brushed side up, as pictured to demo.)

Gonna give the striped double button milled clasp a go too so I don't have to keep swapping the connecting links 🛠

My pleasure!

Hollow end links across his Reduced bracelets. But otherwise, the bracelets and clasp upgrade are [emoji106]

In other Speedy Tuesday news . . . 😉

I got the US double-button striped clasp in.

So as not to have to keep swapping US double-button brushed clasp between my US Flat Link and Mexican Holzer, I grabbed this second one, and opted for striped for some variety.

The finishing on the striped ones doesn’t seem as good as on the brushed (I actually returned one due to it having a small gash; this replacement does too but it’s ever smaller so just said screw it).

Otherwise, though, pretty sweet 👌
