Lug to lug along with dial size and dial type have much to do with a good fit/look. Yours is a perfect fit, well done.

 

Very true and it's something I hadn't really thought about before. A big lug to lug isn't so scary if the other dimensions match up with it.

I've got a 6.5" wrist and have considered the Gentleman. Clean, crisp design and effective movement. Nice to see that it might fit pretty well if I decide to add it to stable.

 

A lot of the pics online make it look giant on the wrist, might just be the camera angles. But yes it will fit you very well in person. I'm around 6.75" wrist.

Fit looks just fine! How much do the lugs curve down?

 

They curve a decent amount, at least compared to some of my other watches. Definitely helps it hug my wrist and reduces its overall size a bit.

 

I've always wanted one, but feared my 6" wrists were too puny for them...

 

Yeah might be a close call. Could be just slightly too big for you. I ordered mine through Prime so free shipping and returns. Might be an option for you to at least see one in person and decide then.

I think part of the current trend towards smaller watches is partially because the typical "wrist shot" makes tends to make watches look larger. Looking at a watch on your wrist in the mirror is probably more indicative of the true fit (and typically shrinks the size a bit).

 

Definitely, I think this is especially true since a watch doesn't only need to be in proportion with your wrist, but also your whole body (something which cannot be determined through a simple wrist shot).

 

I personally don't think it looks large at all - looks perfect on your wrist

Always thought it was 6.5" but my girlfriend whipped out the cloth measuring tape today and I'm actually a little over 6.75".

Looks a great fit to me. I always look at the strap/ braclet where it leaves the watch body. If it goes straight down or worse immediately tapers inwards it's too big. A strap/braclet should go around your wrist not cling on to it.

I'm grumpy and curmudgeony about big watches, but that looks just about perfect.

 

Yeah I don't think I'll ever want to go any bigger, but I'm really happy with how it looks on me. Still wish it was a 38 or 39 mm but now I know I can live with 40mm.

 

Looks perfect on your wrist. Once the lugs start to hang off the wrist that's when the watch starts to look too big. But thats just my opinion.

 

Fit looks good. I have a 7” and have a hard stop at 41mm after flirting with a few Panerai.

 

Was in a similar situation: before trying out the Fossil Hybrid I had been thinking that case size 43mm was the top end for my 7" wrist.
But then a visit at Fossil store made me tried the watch and the result is that I like it on my wrist (its case size is 46.5mm, lug to lug 53mm):

Also using NATO / ZULU or leather strap helps. In my opinion as long as you still can see the straps on both side of your wrist it's acceptable.

So conclusion: it's hard to predict, you have to try it out... always

Awesome! Had the same thing happen myself. Went down from an SKX to a Hamilton Khaki and thought if never get a 'big' watch again (i.e. above 38mm). Then I fell in love with the Oris Big Crown and eventually bought it. Took a while to get used to the size, but now I feel like it might be a better size for me... just ordered the SPB143 as well, so we'll see soon how my second 40mm fits.

Gentleman is a great watch, and looks like the perfect fit to me.

Excellent choice, and to my knowledge, you avoided the C07.111 with the plastic escapement and pallet fork. I believe the silicium (silicon hairspring) uses conventional metal/stone escapement parts.
