What is special with a gooseneck movement?

Hello everyone,
I'm just wondering what is special with a gooseneck movement?
I see many Glashutte Original and Nomos watches feature gooseneck shaped movements, and they sometimes specifically advertise that as a selling point.
Is there any real differences/advantages that these gooseneck shaped movements have over conventional shaped movements?

I think the biggest advantages of the gooseneck mechanism are (1) easier regulation via micro screws and (2) less sensitivity to shock as the regulating lever is secured between the gooseneck spring and micro screws.

I believe the correct term your looking for is swan neck regulator.
