My wrists expand and contract with ambient temperature and activity levels. So for me sizing and fitting around my wrist circumference is #1.

Of those options I voted for buckle/clasp design. For me anything that can easily adjust size on the fly is the most comfortable. A good fit that's just right fixes issues 1-4.

 

For me if anything, it is usually the height/thickness in proportion to the rest of the watch.

 

Mostly the price.

In general I can't manage watches that are too thick.... this being the only reason I passed on the Omega Planet Ocean.

Otherwise, I can adapt to and do wear thick and thin, rubber, leather and bracelet and just about any other variation on material, weight and clasp type, all just depending on the activity and weather.

 

Wait, didn't you just get a Sky Dweller? I haven't seen one IRL but have been told they're pretty big and thick, heavy as well. That PO must have really been something. I know mine is kinda thick but wears okay. Just curious.

 

Weight is the biggest factor for me. Dimensions not so much. As long as I like how it looks on my wrist.

I prefer watches less than 150 grams on bracelet. 100 grams or less is my sweet spot.

Personally I can't stand a wet Nato strap, that's why I rarely wear my watches on Nato strap.

I do like them nonetheless.

I have a simple Casio Tough Solar and im pretty good with it !

 

I cannot stand two things:

1) When a bracelet does not include half links, making it impossible to properly center the bracelet on the wrist with the correct fit.
2) When the bracelet clasp is excessively long, flat or thick. I love the toolless adjustment craze, but oftentimes these new adjustable clasps are crazy thick and long, totally outweighing any benefit they gave. Pressed clasps may look cheap, but they're thin, unobtrusive and functional.

 

I concur regarding the pressed clasps. I never realized how comfortable they were until I got my first “proper” milled clasp!

 

I hate the feeling of water between my wrist and my watch, which is why I never wear a watch in the shower.

 

i would say bracelet/case design and distribution of weight are what do it for me. i hate anything that doesn't slide fairly smooth, if there is an unfinished edge or if the bracelet pulls hairs constantly it is a no go! i also dislike a big heavy watch on a nothing nato strap when the "head" of the watch carries all the weight it feels weird to me.

For me, diameter doesn’t have much to do with comfort on the wrist. My Fifty Fathoms, at 45mm, feels just as comfortable as an Explorer I. But having a crown that digs into my wrist is one thing that will always keep me from buying a watch.

I said weight, but it's more a function of a crown digging into the back of my hand, with some watches. Have sold watches where I found it unbearable.

 

I don't have those issues, but what really makes my watches uncomfortable is when I tell them I'm not sure they'll make it into the daily rotation.

 

Some of my watches are uncomfortable because of the political divisiveness and the volume of tv commercials.

 

Weight, height and diameter. Mostly weight.

 

Funny enough, I had to resolve this problem on my Arnie - the original watch band loop is from metal and, after a while, hurts like hell on wrist.

Had to replace it with rubber one.
