What's the Omega Equivalent of a "Beater Sub"

After I made the stupid mistake of selling my Rolex Sub (14060) I'm constantly being drawn to getting myself another as a beater watch. Simple yet bulletproof movement, dive watch case design to help resist daily dings, not shiny where you're bound to scratch it, and other design elements that make it an amazing daily driver.

Yet, because of my brand loyalty to Omega (for a couple of reasons), I'm on the search for the Omega equivalent of this - simple design good for daily wear, dive watch case, not too shiny, easy maintenance movement, and will look good on a rubber strap.

My current beater is a 3592.50 on a rubber strap. The darn design was designed to survive being shot into space so it's durable, but the sharp bezel edges makes it easy to ding, so looking for alternatives.

Suggestions?

Definitely the 2254.50. The cal. 1120 is bulletproof, anti-magnetic, great lume, 300m WR, and slim profile makes it disappear on the wrist.

Just pull one of those down you've got for sale and slap it on the wrist ;)
Hahaha, you read my mind! I was actually considering pulling one out from inventory. :)

A close second I think is the Titanium Sword Hands 2231.50 which I think is even less shiny, but for a beater the semi-shiny bezel doesn't seem proper. Anything exactly like the 2254.50 but Titanium?

I always think of "quartz" when I think of a beater. Hard to beat a 2264.50.........

2254 is my auto-answer to this question, but any of the SMP 300m variations are perfect in this role. I have no problem with the titanium version, it'd be a great option, or even the white gold bezel insert of the stainless non-AC 2230.50. Even a brand-new SMPc wouldn't be a bad option - they're still remarkably reasonably priced, and will look great after taking a beating.

The other 'obvious' answer to this are the 2500-movement PO's, in particular the 42mm, I think. While it has some upgrades from the SMP 300m's, with the 8500's out now, the 2500 version is now a perfect candidate for a sweet 'beater' watch.

If you're looking to go vintage, the Watchco SM300 or SM200 SHOM are fantastic options. Vintage looks, classic movement, modern face with Superluminova. My Watchco SHOM with Ploprof hands is absolutely one of my favorite watches in the box, and its franken-watch origins are a positive to me, rather than a negative.

True vintage watches aren't really my thing, in part because I just don't want to have to fret about water resistance, and also because I really rely on good lume, which just isn't a feature of vintage rigs.

I completely agree. I have the former (with red numerals) and am expecting delivery of the latter in the next few days. Although based on the condition that it looks to be in, I'm not sure how much of a beating it will actually get even though that was the plan (justification?) for getting it. It is destined to wear a blue or black rubber strap so it will definitely see some outdoors time, boat, swim and dive time but probaby no beach or yard work time. The real beater will remain my 20 yo Victornox Officer's watch with the cracked crystal ;-)

It's the current beater, but I think I can afford to be more reckless if it didn't have that easily dingable bezel

I think the real motivation for this is to have a beater that I can pass on, as I could just as well use a G shock if that were not a factor

Ok, this what I decided on. 2531.80 with faded aluminum bezel (which is strangely appealing) on a curved end deployant strap. Not sure if it shows on the pic that the strap has or ang contrast stitching, which works with the orange on the second hand.

Had this go through a full service last week, so should serve me well for the next few years

The Rolex guys go ape for a aging and faded Pepsi or Coke bezel too.

In my case, I prefer a fresher looking bezel, but in a beater watch you have one less thing to worry about here.

^^^ Solid choice. Just switched to my 2531 before seeing your update so it's perfect timing! Wearing mine hiking tomorrow in the N. GA mountains.
