"Resurrecting" an old but good thread I noticed (Dec 2013 - Aug 2017) started by 'goody2141' at

"Obsessed" would entail you've spent hours ogling images, scrutinizing specs and rationalizing forgoing other expenditures to acquire the latest affordable watch you desire.
You can't eat a meal alone without thinking about this latest watch instead of pondering the meaning of your existence.

Perhaps you are within 3 days to 3 weeks of pulling the trigger, waiting for just the right timing, for like when your spouse will be most agreeable, or after you return some empty beer bottle cases or other merchandise.

This is the time and the thread to post your latest affordable watch obsession, along with any relevant preamble or introspective comments.
In this regard, take some comfort within to know that you will not be alone.

Currently, this is mine, because 3 dive watches isn't enough, and I want some 'hits of orange' in a sporty/fun design:

umm.... define "affordable"?

If Tissot's universal $700 men's lines are still within range, I would say I'm drooling over the latest 35mm ice blue PRX.

Back in the day they got 40mm auto with the waffle pattern (the dull looking one) which is way too big, the cheaper 35mm quartz that are really competitive but don't have the waffle pattern, then they introduced the ice blue in 40mm which, still, makes it meh solely because of the size. These kinds of vintage integrated watches need to be small to look good

Then somehow, Tissot behave like they research in reddit and these forums, and came out with
  • 35mm
  • automatic with display caseback
  • new waffle dial that shines (the mother of pearl dial is also glorious)
  • once coast is cleared, they roll out with the ice blue immediately

I understand 90% of the people are already tired of the whole PRX thing, but this is just freaking awesome

My current rabbithole is affordable solar titanium watches.

I really would love the Citizen BN0200 but in a smaller size. 38-40mm would be the Bees Knees...

Another one is the Oceanus S100 - Especially in black - looks just like a GADA to me.
If I stumble upon a good offer, I'm not sure if can hold my wallet closed.

There are other no-solar titanium watches that I look at over and over again...
For example the RZE Endeavour, especially the frigate grey version looks amazing:

The only caveat is that if Sinn decides to put a solar movement into a 857S or a U50 (or even better T50) I'm breaking the affordable ceiling...

Depending on whether "affordable" stretches up to the $800 or so range, I was obsessed with the Nivada Super Antarctic for quite a while. In fact it rekindled what had become a dormant interest in watches. I even bid on a used one on eBay a couple of years ago, when my obsession began and when Nivada was temporarily out of stock, but lost out at the last minute. They're readily available now, but I still haven't pulled the trigger on one, even though I've bought a few other watches in the interim. I wouldn't say I'm still obsessed, but it's never quite left my mind, either. (Image from a google search.)

At ~$700 this might be pushing the limits, but I’ve been obsessed with this (SPB317) since it came out, loving the 4:30 date (and how that retains the nice full lume plots on every hour marker) and the modest sizing. It’s on my Christmas wish list.

Interestingly, not sold in Japan (even though it would sell like hot cakes here), so have to see it in person when I’m back home for the holidays this year.
