I would have to say G-Shock. Invicta definitely isn't known for their superb build quality, while G-Shocks are darn-near bulletproof.

That being said, Invictas and G-Shocks are apples and oranges: Invicta makes fairly low-end fashion/sport watches, while G-Shocks are 0% fashion (in my opinion), 100% function.

You buy an Invicta because you want people to notice your watch and appreciate it (not so much the folks around here though).
You buy a G-Shock because you want something you can bang around and put through just about any kind of trauma and keep working.

G shock probably have more cross-over/cross promotion with the fashion world than any other watch brand, just look at all the special edition such as eminem edition, stussy, Bape, etc

it's a very unique niche they are occupying.

G-Shock has better build quality, style and price than (most) Invictas.

You can almost for certain know what to expect from your G-Shock. The same can't be said about Invicta - you may end up with a nice one, but it's almost like a russian roulette game. I would steer clear from Invictas.

I would say that the G-Shock is the better quality.

Pretty much for a hard-wearing watch that can survive a lot, but not cost the earth and is easily replaceable should it go wrong, well it's a leader.

Plus I'm planning on getting one for myself in the near future.

I was planning it a few months ago. Then I got it. It's true what they say - if there's a digital watch worth having, it's a G-Shock.

Go for the Atomic/Solar models - they represent what G-Shocks have of best in this day and age. Good luck!

Me too, but the thread has been pretty tame so far.

G-Shock is the clear winner over Invicta. G's have a very low failure rate both out of the box, and in real life wear. Invicta....not so much.

Vintage g-shock have record single battery last 20 yrs. replaced it and it is going again. Enough said.

 

Actually Invicta's Flame Fusion glass is better than the usual mineral one. And they do use movements from reputable makers (Seiko, Citizen etc), but still, Casio makes th whole thing themselves, they even manufacture movements, so i kinda have more confidence in Casio watches because of that.

Really ? Read all the threads on Invicta's flame fushion which in a nutshell is basically just hardened mineral crystal, much like Seiko's "Hardlex". OK, it is harder to scratch than window glass, but still easier to scratch than sapphire and has the same properties as mineral crystal has (water drop test, reflection). It does not make an Invicta a better watch per se.

 

Gshock! There have been many times I've reached for my Rolex but instead strapped on one of my G's, that would never happen with invicta!

If quality is measured as the ability to perform the intended function of a machine excellently, then G-Shocks are the best watch discussed on this forum. If it is defined as the degree of perfection a type of device has achieved relative to that possible, it they are merely among the best.

 

G-shock. It's just built right. Everyone has an occasional lemon but Invicta's QA is non-existent and many of their designs are just a problem waiting to happen. G-Shocks, while not my cuppa, are solid, functional, and take a beating.

 

I would pick a DW5600 anyday.

 

Of the 2 the G Shock is probably the better watch. If I were choosing one of them to own it would be the G.
