Why So Little Love for the 836?

I purchased an 836 used early on in 2024 and it has barely left my wrist since acquiring it despite owning a handful of other watches that I very much still like. I have noticed very little talk here about the 836 and it has me wondering why? I see that its smaller sibling the 556 gets most of the attention while the 836 appears to fly under the radar. I love mine and am wondering what everyone here thinks about the pair.

I am starting a companion thread re an alternative to the H bracelet but would like to keep the two discussions separate.

I love the 836, just haven't come across one as of yet. Don't mind the 556 at all but its a little small for my wrist.

Cost difference as well as size may be an issue as far as it's popularity on here. my best guess.

Believe me I understand the size issue, prior to my purchase I had not actually seen a Sinn and certainly not the 836 in person but I had a few 41mm watches that I enjoy so I decided to take a chance because I liked the design / layout so much. I have acquired 5-6 vintage watches that I really enjoy, all logging in with cases in the low to mid 30mms so I am not wedded to any particular case size. I work with my hands and use this as a true tool watch; for me case size is important and it can't get in the way or get caught on equipment while I work but thickness and legibility are just as important, I have found that the thickness here (10.65mm) is not an issue at all, I don't bang into or catch this on machinery and the dial is so legible I read the time in an instant a lot like fliegers. Initially my first impression when it arrived and I started wearing it was that this was a large watch but honestly within a day of wearing this I haven't given it a second thought.
I just snapped a few photos to share, fyi - my wrist is 6.75".

I’m a huge fan of the 836 and absolutely love mine. The large dial is ultra legible and the brushed rhodium plated hands are unique to this model. It’s also one of the few satinized tegimented Sinn’s. 🍻

I think the 836's popularity is limited predominantly by its large size -- particularly for a watch without a bezel. It has a lot of dial real estate. Also, Sinn has similar style models in the 556i and 856 (particularly when they had the limited edition 856i with satinized finishing.

The other design feature that may be more polarizing, though much less so than the size, is the date location at 6 O'Clock. People are just very picky about date placement, and I think the Sinn watches with dates at 6 are less popular than 3 or 3.5/4.5.

Everyone has their own style and preferences, but just generally speaking, I think these are two of the factors keeping the 836 confined to a more niche fan group than the broader Sinn audience.
