What is your ideal watch size (case)

For me it’s 42mm. Large enough to look substantial (and masculine) but not too oversized to look ostentatious. Personally I detest the small watch trend. Anything less then 40mm just looks too dainty to me.

I agree with your first point but disagree with your second! 42mm is kind of my max size, but also a sweet spot. It looks right and “full” on my wrist, a good size to show wrist candy: however, I kinda look trashy on anything bigger and I’m glad that there’s a shift closer to sane sizes. Not that everybody has to rock a 36mm, but I’m glad you don’t necessarily have to go a centimeter past that now to get nice stuff.

39mm is as small as I go. My wrist is a flat 7 inches. Maybe it’s because I’ve been accustomed to Seiko divers for so long that an “average” sized watch blends in too much to my eyes (if that makes sense even though they still look good). 40-43mm is my sweet spot. I agree that maybe I’ve become too used to having a watch with wrist presence. However, anything above 44mm gets into funky Invicta territory…

I have 33mm, 34mm, 35mm, 36mm, 38mm, 40mm, 41mm, 43mm, 44mm, 45mm, 56mm watches for my 7 1/4" wrist. All anyone needs is to have confidence in their own masculinity.

33mm watches used to be MENS watches. Since when did men become so insecure that they need to be reassured at every turn? This size question constantly comes up. Real men don't need to be continuously reassured about the size of their..... whatever

Did you really have to make a thread to tell the world that you "detest" small watches?

Anyway, the smallest I've gone is 38.5 and my largest is 44 — enjoy both equally. I could go even smaller or bigger, but that would depend on thickness. It also depends on whether or not it's all dial or if it has a prominent rehaut, chapter ring, or external bezel.

I think 38-42 is generally my preference, with 40x47 L2L being pretty much ideal. I think my 36mm Omega is as small as I'd want to go. I don't have anything against more vintage sizes, it's more of a legibility thing. I will say that my 36mm has a classiness to it that the 40+ divers just don't, which is fine because that's not why I wear them. Watches like Oris' 43mm dress watches though I think look kinda ridiculous unless you have especially large wrists.

I do like 42-45 mm depending on the case shape. I don't have a problem w smaller sizes either. The reason why a wide range works on me (maybe others w similar arm /wrist shape can attest to) is that while my wrist area is pretty lean (can fluctuate between 6.75 -7.25 inches seasonally depending on off season or in shape season ) my upper arm is relatively large.
So a 34mm can still be worn if only my wrist is shown (long sleeves etc) and a 45mm diver w a big chunky ss bracelet can be worn (tank top etc outdoors , sport etc) I look exceptional either way.

We need some photos I think! :D
You're a funny guy.

As I get older, I prefer larger watches as they're easier for me to read.

I have three dress watches: two 39mm and one 40mm. I have three casual watches: one 40mm, one 45mm and one 46mm. And finally I have a beater: 43mm. All of them sit comfortably on my 7.4 inch wrist.

So I'm not sure if I have an "ideal size," but I do prefer at least a 40mm.

Hard to say since IMO it depends on a whole set of measurements, not just diameter alone.

I find that L2L and lug width have nearly as much to do with it as case diameter. As for diameter I would say 41-42 is my sweet spot.

Of all my watches, this one seems to fit my wrist the best. The diameter is slightly smaller than I usually wear at 41mm, but the 50mm L2L and 22mm bracelet width make it near perfect for my 7.5mm wrist.

I'm a tall guy (2.04 m / 6'8") with quite stout (20.5 cm / 8") and wide (6.5 cm / 2.6“) wrists, so watches with case diameters under 40 millimeters look like ladies' watches on me.
The smallest watch in my current collection, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Concept 2000, measures 40.5 millimeters in diameter, while the largest, the Clerc Hydroscaph H1 Chronometer, measures a whopping 48 millimeters.
In between are: IWC Aquatimer GST with 42 mm, Porsche Design by IWC Ocean 2000 with 42.5 mm, Eterna KonTiki Diver 200M with 44 mm, Vulcain Cricket Aviator Diver X-Treme with also 44 mm and Eterna KonTiki Diver 1000M with 46 mm case diameter.

I Like dive watches and I think 42mm is my sweet spot. Really anything 40-42mm in a dive watch and 38-40 in a field. Feel like I am more height sensitive with certain designs vs width. Also, the more experience I get in this hobby the more I realize how certain watches wear differently compared to their actual size spec. My 44mm MM300 is a good example of this. it's a big watch but wears like a 42mm

36mm-41mm is my range for my smaller wirst. I absolutely dont go over or below this range.

I tend to think that 36-38mm with no large or rotating bezel (39 with said bezel) looks the best on me: timeless, but still visible. That being said, my nicest pieces are 39-41mm, most with no large bezel, so Im not really sticking to what could be seen as my ideal size, but rather what I really like 😂
I agree! 36-39 is great! I'm getting used to and beginning to like 40 if it has a rotating bezel. Can't do over 41 unless it's my G-shock

Good question.
