I just bought myself a Casio Edifice EFR526D-1AV in an attempt to find a durable and well built affordable piece that looked similar to a Speedmaster for under $100. The watch is built WAY above it's price point... the finish is perfect, solid end links, 10bar WR, good lume. I checked out a bunch of other pieces in the Edifice line and they're all the same. A lot of beautiful unique styles and homage styles that are classy and not a total rip, all in the $100ish range.

Why no love for the Casio here? I really don't think you can find a better watch at this price point.

Just curious, have you taken off the bracelet yet?

I bought an Edifice from eBay recently that looked like complete garbage under the end links.

I don't wear my EF503 enough but it's a nice looking watch.
I find it not as easy to read time compared to my other chronos with bigger numbers and cleaner dial but it's a fine affordable chrono.
Keeps excellent time.

I appreciate the bracelet's solid end links......

Hi all. Just in to collecting and found your site - impressed. I managed to pick up this beauty last week for a song!! Just love it. Only worn by its former owner 3 times

(much to the disgus
t of his wife who bought it for him!!!)

Apologies for the quality of the picture but will hopefully get better with practice!! As far as i can tell from my research, it's an EQS500GG-1A. Any idea what I should have paid for it?

While Casio is a respected brand in F71, and many WIS love the Edifice line, there is still a bias towards automatic mechanical watches. Casio only produces quartz and solar quartz models, and offer no mechanical models. For many members, that disqualifies Casio from serious consideration. Most Casio analog watches also exceed the WUS ideal of a 40mm case size.

WUS ideal watch:

40mm stainless steel case (or titanium with DLC coating), 11mm or under high.
sapphire crystal (dome style a plus)
screw down crown
200M or better WR
automatic mechanical movement with hand-winding and hacking functions
(-/+ 5 sec per day variation or better)
40+ hour reserve
20 mm stainless steel (or titanium DLC) bracelet with solid end links and solid links.
drilled lugs
excellent lume or tritium markers

Many in the Edifice lineup are surprisingly nice, ESPECIALLY for the price.

I used to have one, till I accidentally smashed it into a solid steel door handle.

I might get me another soon.

I wonder why Edifice is so much cheaper than Seiko chronos, when they are both equal in many ways?
