I have a T2N654 . Is it appropriate to use with a black leather strap, wearing a suit?

The answer is yes for 100% of situations. I don't even think you need black leather, unless you are applying for a job AND you want to avoid the appearance of being playful/casual at the edges.

... as long as you are wearing the appropriate snakers!

Sorry to be the party pooper here, but I don't think that that watch could pass for more than it is.
Now, of course it depends on the event you are attending, in a "normal" business environment I think you could pull it off as long as you're not at the executive table.
If, on the other end, you plan to attend a more formal event, or even a ceremony, I would strongly advise against your choice as the watch is bound to clash with a formal attire.

Please, understand, these are only my opinions based on my perception of the situation and the fact that I usually work in a suit and tie work environment every day.
In the end you should do whatever feels comfortable.

What features do you object to? I don't see a lot of opportunity for clashing.

It's not the most elegant piece in the world, but, EoD, it's about as safe as they come. 38mm. Clean(ish) white dial. Simple, unobtrusive, polished case with conservative lugs.

I think I have spent at least some time in nearly every sort of business and executive environment in the US, and have not once been in an environment where this watch wouldn't be just fine (if not more appropriate than most).

I would agree you can't make the Weekender "more than it is." It's an inexpensive watch, and no amount of dressing it up with leather will change that.

However, given the relatively conservative nature of a leather strap and the vintage feel of the case, as well as the lack of any garish features, you could definitely pull it off without doing any damage. And that's really all that matters in this kind of situation. You're not going to likely impress anyone with the watch, you just need to make sure it doesn't look out of place. Skip the brightly colored NATO straps and stick to a regular leather two-piece to dress it up and you'll be fine.

I don't see why not, it's a straight forward enough watch, at the end of the day I wouldn't judge someone at work for wearing a timex on a leather strap. Some of the young guys that work for me have some pretty blingy watches and that's just the fashion. Does it make it inappropriate?

I think it looks good [emoji106]

you can wear it on a Hello Kitty strap if you want.

But otherwise, most people don't have a clue about watches, and just having a watch is notable enough. For me, black leather strap on any analog watch can go with any suit. Bracelet is the next best. But you can wear a giant Gshock, or some gaudy diver on a Nato and still be fine. I've done Seiko 5 on nato, Vostok Amphibia on leather and the stock bracelet, Sea-Gull Diver on leather, etc....

I'm getting married on sunday wearing a diver with brown leather strap (Deep blue suit, brown shoes/belt). I always talk about divers not really being dressy, but it's my fanciest watch, and really nobody but I will care much about the watch, if they even see it.
