I recently became very interested in sector dial watches, and have bought a few. I think they represent the essence of what a watch should be, and have considerable historical presence. Without further adou here is what I have as of now.

Jaeger-leCoultre Master Control Date, Sector Dial (Q1548530). This watch has what I consider the perfect sector dial. It has the JLC 899 automatic movement, and is 39mm in diameter with 8.5mm thickness. The skeleton syringe shaped hands are beautiful. Perfect for me.

Omega Specialties CK 859. A beautiful dial made of pure silver. It is 39mm in diameter with 11.5mm thickness. It has the Omega hand wound Master Chronometer movement 8926. The only thing I don't like is the sub-seconds hand. I prefer center seconds.

Merci Instruments LMM-01 Nationale. A simple, unadorned sector dial. It was designed to represent something the French Minister of Defence would have worn in the 1960s. It is 38mm in diameter by 11mm thick. It has the hand wound Selitta SW210 movement which is time only without a ghost position for setting the date. I really like this watch.

Axios Tribune 38, Champagne. This watch is 38mm in diameter with 10.5mm thickness. It has the Miyota 9015 automatic movement.

I love sector dials. Kinda sad I don't have any.

That JLC is amazing.
The thing I am curious about is whether sector dial watches are considered formal or tool watches.
As far as I know, it was originally developed for military applications so one would assumer its a tool watch. But most modern sector dial watches give off a formal vibe.

They come out of the Art Deco period. I think they were supposed to be the ultimate utilitarian design for reading precise time. Not sure if you would classify them formal or tool watches.

I am all for sector dials, but also require them to have symmetry. The Merci Instruments does it right.
I had the JLC Geophysic 1958 LE for a bit and it was also "correct" according to my standards (but too pricey and delicate feeling for my taste).

I love that you found something you love and are going after it. 10 years of collecting and I still haven’t found a single style that I want a lot of.
